A rare and beautiful French antique sewing case, dating from the Georgian period, with “Souvenir d’Amitie” in finely crafted gold lettering. This exquisite piece is made from the finest quality shagreen, featuring glass-fronted oval panels with hand-painted scenes, framed by intricate gold surrounds. Although only the original scissors from the sewing kit remain, the case itself is a true collector’s item, despite imperfections, particularly on the top. The case appears to have belonged to a Lady, as suggested by the writing underneath.
